Diego Martín Cecchini, MD, PhD

Biography

Dr. Diego Cecchini is a specialist in infectious diseases from Argentina. Research and care for people living with HIV have been his primary focus since 2006. He graduated from Universidad Austral in 2002. He completed his residency with a specialization in infectious diseases at the Hospital Francisco J. Muñiz (2002 2006) and later a fellowship in outpatient infectious diseases at the Fundación del Centro de Estudios Infectológicos (FUNCEI). 

During the period 2004 2008, he completed his Ph.D. at the University of Buenos Aires in HIV associated cryptococcal meningitis. He currently works as a staff physician at the Infectious Diseases Unit of the Hospital Cosme Argerich and as Scientific Development Coordinator at Helios Salud in Buenos Aires city. He is currently the principal investigator and coordinator of several clinical trials, implementation, and investigator initiative studies.

Dr. Cecchini is the author of more than 100 presentations at national and international conferences, numerous chapters in books on the specialty, and has coauthored more than 50 publications in peer reviewed journals including AIDS , JAIDS , Lancet HIV , NEJM , Lancet Regiona l Health Americas , Viruses , The International Journal of Tuberculosis and Lung Disease , JIAS , HIV Medicine , AIDS and Behavior , International Journal of Behavioral Medicine, JIAPAC, and Pan American Journal of Public Health , among others. He is a member of the IAS (International AIDS Society), VILA (Viral Infections Latin America), and part of the directory board of SADI (Sociedad Argentina de Infectología).
