Edgar Arnold Lungu, PhD works for UNICEF Zambia as the HIV/AIDS Manager where he is responsible for first decade (PMTCT and Paediatric HIV) and second decade (adolescent health and HIV) programming. In this role he also provides technical assistance to Ministry of Health and other implementing partners in the areas of HIV prevention, care and treatment for children, adolescents and women. He has over 10 years’ experience in HIV programme design and implementation predominantly focusing on HIV prevention, care, treatment and support programmes for adolescents. He has played leadership role in design, implementation and dissemination of results for research in child health, adolescent HIV and health systems and has advocated for differentiated service delivery models for HIV care. He has previously worked in various roles with Ministry of Health, UNAIDS and UNICEF in his home country Malawi including as a part time lecturer at the University of Malawi’s College of Medicine and Kamuzu College of Nursing. Dr Edgar Lungu’s programming and research interests are in the areas of child health, adolescent health and HIV, PMTCT, urban health, health systems, social determinants of health and cross-sectoral programming, and equity in health.
