Graduated in Medicine by Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul; master degree in Medical Sciences in the same university studying Kaposi’s sarcoma and AIDS. ScD degree at the same course and university investigating pharmacology, Kaposi’s sarcoma, and HIV infection. Has published several papers in peer reviewed journals and books. Currently is professor of medicine at School of Medicine in Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul. Infectious diseases are the major field of interest. Has several clinical trials studying antimicrobials, antivirals, antiretrovirals & vacciines. His main focus now are issues related to HIV infection and complications associated with this human infection, COVID-19 & emerging infectious diseases.
