Erika Duffell, MB, ChB

Biography

Dr Erika Duffell is a public health physician specialised in communicable disease control.

Erika has been working for the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) in Stockholm since 2011. She trained in medicine in the United Kingdom and subsequently undertook a specialist training programme in public health in the South West of England, sub-specialising in communicable disease control. Erika then worked for seven years as a Consultant in Health Protection in the North West of England with the Health Protection Agency (current UK Health Security Agency).

Since 2011 she has been working mostly in the area of hepatitis, supporting countries in the European Union and European Economic Area in their work to prevent and control of viral hepatitis B and C.  Over the past 20 months she has been working as part of ECDC’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
