Eugenio Baraldi, MD

Biography

Eugenio Baraldi is a professor of pediatrics, director of the Women's and Children's Health Department, head of the Neonatology and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and the director of the School of Pediatrics at the University of Padova.

He is also the Scientific Director at the Institute of Pediatric Research Città della Speranza, Padova, Italy.

Professor Baraldi is the past head of the Allergy and Respiratory Diseases Unit (University of Padova) and the past president of the Italian Society for Pediatric Respiratory Diseases (SIMRI).

Over his extensive career, he has written more than 300 scientific articles in internationally peer-reviewed journals (including NEJM, the Lancet, JAMA, and AJRCCM) and acted as a referee for more than 15 academic and clinical journals.

Professor Baraldi reviews research programs for the Netherlands Asthma Foundation and The Asthma Foundation of Western Australia. He is the co-founder and executive member of ReSViNET - an international RSV network with the mission to decrease the burden of RSV infections globally.

He coordinated the 2014 and 2022 Italian guidelines on the management of bronchiolitis in infants (Ital J Pediatr 2014, Ital J Pediatr 2022 in press), and his primary research interests include neonatology, pediatric asthma, respiratory infections, markers of airway inflammation, BPD, and metabolomics.
