Dr. Chiwanga is an Internal Medicine Physician and Endocrinologist at Muhimbili National Hospital – Mloganzila. She holds a Master of Medicine in Internal Medicine, Master of Science in Endocrinology and Diabetes, and Master of Science in Public Health. She is an honorary senior researcher, Oxford University and Doctoral researcher, Uppsala University. Her PhD is in designing and evaluating complex interventions with a focus on mobile health technology. Her research activities have focused on clinical and epidemiology of non-communicable diseases particularly diabetes, hypertension, cancer, and thyroid disorders. She is also passionate about climate change and health; currently working on evaluating interventions to alleviate health effects of heat among agricultural workers in Tanzania. She has published over 20 articles in peer reviewed journals; serves as a reviewer for various national and international journals and is a member of the UK Research and Innovation International Development Peer Review College.
