Biography

Dr Frances Lander (she/her) is a Consultant Physician in Genitourinary Medicine/HIV at Chelsea and Westminster NHS trust. She currently also works within the TransPlus Gender Dysphoria service which provides Gender Affirming care integrated with Sexual Health and HIV. She has spent time working in HIV medicine in England as well as Malawi. She is very passionate about HIV activism and strategising to reduce stigma for people living with HIV by promoting education around this as well as endeavouring to promote sexual wellbeing for people from all backgrounds inclusive of those with protected characteristics. She is currently undertaking a masters degree in Gender Studies with a focus on the effects of colonisation and migration on sexuality, gender identity and gender roles. She feels strongly about identifying and acknowledging inequalities in heath, and implementing sustainable interventions that integrate the voices of those who are directly affected so that positive changes can be made. She is also one of the co-founders and current secretary of the BASHH Racially Minoritised Communities Specialist Interest Group who endeavour to address health inequalities in Sexual Health on a national scale.
