Professor Gamal Esmat is a Professor of Hepatogastroenterology & Infectious Diseases and the past Vice President of Cairo University, Egypt. He was awarded the prestigious Egyptian Nile Award in Science in 2016 and the State Merit Award in Medical Science in 2010. Professor Esmat is also a member of the WHO Strategic and Technical Advisory Committee (STAC) and has served as the past President of the International Association for the Study of Liver Diseases.
