Hanna Amanuel Tesfahunei

Biography

Mrs. Hanna Amanuel Tesfahunei is a public health officer with over seven years’ experience of practice in multi-country settings and expertise in epidemiology, zoonosis, communicable disease control and prevention, health system strengthening and integration and innovative research.

Hanna is currently working as a Technical Officer for Endemic and Neglected Tropical Diseases in the Division of Disease Control and Prevention of Africa CDC. She supports the development of the Five-Year Africa CDC Strategic priorities for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, Malaria, TB and NTDs and the successful implementation of Africa CDC’s Continental Viral Hepatitis prevention and control program, that supports 55 African Union Member States with their Viral Hepatitis programs.

Hanna holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Public Health and Master’s degree in Clinical Trials. Prior to joining Africa CDC, she worked as a district public health officer in the Ministry of Health and as a research assistant for Cancer and Non-Communicable Diseases Research Institute for over four years in her home country, Eritrea. Hanna is very passionate about bringing innovative solutions to different public health issues in the continent and has over ten publications in peer-reviewed journals on public health interventions focusing on different Infectious diseases and Cancers. And she plans to dedicate her career to addressing health equity issues. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking and taking long walks.
