Harmony Garges, MD, MPH

Biography


Dr. Harmony Garges leads the Global Medical team at ViiV Healthcare. She has extensive clinical and pharmaceutical experience in areas of R&D, pharmacovigilance and medical affairs. In her current role, Harmony is accountable for all aspects of human safety and medical governance for the company. Additionally, she is accountable for the global medical affairs strategy and execution for ViiV Healthcare’s portfolio, including strategic planning for investigator-sponsored and collaborative studies, integrated evidence generation, medical communications strategy and external engagement. 

Harmony joined industry in 2005 and retained her clinical focus until 2018 by serving as Consulting Faculty and Associate Professor at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC, where she provided independent specialty medical care and trained junior medical staff in the Pediatric Infectious Diseases clinic. Harmony has a long association with Duke, earning an MD degree in 1998, finishing her residency in pediatrics in 2001, and completing post-doctoral fellowships in both pediatric infectious diseases and medical microbiology in 2005. She also holds a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Harmony completed her undergraduate studies in chemistry at Colgate University in NY.
