Hyasinta Jaka is a medical doctor, who holds PhD in Medical Gastroenterology from the Catholic University of Health and Allied Sciences with a particular interest in Gastrointestinal and liver infectious diseases and malignancies. She is a senior lecturer at the Catholic University of Health and Allied Sciences. Her work has assisted in improving of GI and liver diagnosis and management. She is the co-founder of the African Helicobacter and Microbiota Study Group. She is among the founders of the Tanzania gastroenterology and endoscopist Societies(TAGES) and she is also a member of the South African Gastroenterology Society (SAGES). She is doing consultancy services, mentoring students, teaching and doing research with 13yrs of experience with gastrointestinal and hepatology research, she contributed to different journals, guidelines and books. She has published a gastrointestinal infectious book, 50 peer-reviewed publications, and four book chapters. In collaboration with other sectors, she rises awareness of GI and liver infectious diseases and cancer diseases in the community in collaboration with non-governmental organisations.
