Hypolite Muhindo Mavoko is a medical doctor, holding a specialization degree in tropical medicine and PhD in medical sciences. He is currently a full professor, working at the Department of Tropical Medicine, at the University of Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). He has been principal investigator (PI) of a number of clinical trials on Ebola, Covid-19 and Mpox vaccines; some of them enrolling special populations such as children, people living with HIV and pregnant women. He conducts studies on malaria, including clinical trials (in children and pregnant women), observational studies and evaluation of the accuracy of diagnostic tools. He is involved in observational studies on Mpox transmission and clinical description, vaccination coverage, as well as the environmental surveillance of pathogens such as Mpox virus, poliovirus, cholera, etc. All these research activities are conducted in collaboration with several consortia, which fuels his scientific leadership and networking skills.
