Dr. Ismaeel Ebrahim is a Clinical Pharmacologist, currently the Regional Medical Scientist for ViiV Healthcare in the African region. His experience in the pharmaceutical industry started in 2017 after joining GSK South Africa. He has a passion for advancing science through clinical research, using data to support clinical decision making and increasing access to antiretroviral therapy for people living with HIV in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Dr. Ismaeel Ebrahim joined ViiV Healthcare inĀ 2020 and has had the opportunity to be part of the planning discussions to increase widescale access to PrEP and paediatric Dolutegravir in Africa. His passion for improving HIV healthcare started early in his career following exposure to the high burden of HIV-related mortality and morbidity in South Africa. This unmet need was the catalyst to specialize in Clinical Pharmacology where he contributed to HIV research at the University of Cape Town. During this time, he was involved in pharmacokinetic clinical research, and the clinical management of people living with HIV in the public sector of South Africa.
