James Arthos, PhD

Biography

Dr. Arthos obtained a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, and subsequently worked as a Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at The Stanford University School of Medicine. He is currently a Staff Scientist in the Laboratory of Immunoregulation in the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases on the NIH campus in Bethesda Maryland. He began working on the HIV-1 envelope protein and its interaction with cell surface receptors under the direction of Raymond Sweet and Marty Rosenberg at SmithKline. He has continued to focus on the interaction between gp120 and cellular receptors and has incorporated into those studies interactions between gp120 various receptors.
