Dr. Jason Baker is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Minnesota and Director of Infectious Diseases at Hennepin Healthcare, an urban safety-net hospital and clinic system in Minneapolis, MN. He also provides primary HIV care at the Hennepin Healthcare Positive Care Center (PCC), under a model of multi-disciplinary team care that is also supported by HRSA Ryan White CARE Act funding. Dr. Baker then directs an NIH-funded (NIAID, NHLBI, NIA, NIMH) research program at Hennepin Healthcare Research Institute, where he leads pathogenesis-oriented clinical trials and initiatives within multi-center studies. His primary research focus is on HIV associated inflammation and cardiovascular disease among patient receiving ART domestically (U.S.) and within sub-Saharan Africa (South Africa), but he also collaborates on studies of behavior interventions as well as those that inform HIV cure strategies. Dr. Baker also serves on the scientific steering committee in the INSIGHT (International Network for Strategic Initiatives in Global HIV Trials) group, on the Inflammation Translational Science Group for the ACTG (AIDS Clinical Trial Group), and on the U.S. DHHS Panel on Antiretroviral Guidelines for Adults and Adolescences.
