Commander Jones is a medical epidemiologist in the United States Public Health Service and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, or CDC, working in the Respiratory Viral Diseases Branch. His current work focuses on the epidemiology, immunity, and natural history associated with SARS-CoV-2 and respiratory syncytial virus. He received his Medical Degree and Master of Public Health from Northwestern University, attended a residency in pediatrics at the University of California San Diego and a residency in preventive medicine at CDC. He completed an Epidemic Intelligence Service fellowship while working at the Arizona Department of Health Services. His work at CDC has included outbreak response and epidemiologic research on Ebola, Zika, waterborne disease, and transfusion and organ transplant-associated infections. He continues to see patients as a pediatric urgent care physician.
