Jie Li is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Microbiology and Infectious Disease Center, School of Basic Medical Sciences, Peking University Health Science Center. Professor Li is also the Secretary-General of the Chinese Society of Hepatology.
During 1991 to 2001, Jie Li served as a Research Associate in National Laboratory for Poliomyelitis, Institute of Virology, Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention. July 1994 to July 1995, Jie Li served as a Research Trainee in National Institute of Infectious Diseases of Japan. She had done a lot of research works on the molecular virology and serology of poliovirus, and engaged in the laboratory surveillance on poliomyelitis at the final stage of elimination of the poliovirus. Especially, she started the research works on the neurovirulence of vaccine-derived poliovirus isolated in China using transgenic mice.
Her research interests involve in molecular virology, epidemiology of viral hepatitis, virus-host interactions of hepatitis B virus, and diagnostics of hepatitis C virus. Currently, her active projects include “The Immune Strategy of Preventing Perinatal Transmission of HBV” supported by 11th and 12th Five-year Plan of National Science and Technology Major Projects for Infectious Disease, and “Optimal screening strategy of HBV and HCV among blood donors” supported by special fund of the Ministry of Health public service sectors funded projects. She was awarded several prizes of science and technology by the Ministry of Health and the Beijing Municipal Government. Professor Li has published more than 80 scientific papers in English and Chinese in the field of infectious diseases.
