Biography

Jing Sun, MD, MPH, PhD is an Assistant Scientist in the Department of Epidemiology at Johns Hopkins University. Her research focused on leveraging molecular epidemiology approaches to improve understanding of and ameliorate the long-term impacts of aging with HIV infection. With a background in clinical medicine and advanced training in epidemiological methods and statistics, her work integrates multiple disciplines, from the basic sciences to population research, leverages well-developed cohort infrastructure, and has been characterized by a strong record of collaboration.

Her recent research seeks to understand the role of molecular and genetic factors of mitochondrial function in the etiology of frailty development and comorbidities (renal, lung, and malignancy). She is actively involved with multiple large-scale HIV cohort studies including the MACS/WHIS Combined Cohort Study [MWCCS], the AIDS Linked to the IntraVenous Experience [ALIVE] study, the North American AIDS Cohort Collaboration on Research and Design [NA-ACCORD], and AIDS Clinical Trials Group.
