Biography

Dr. John Kinuthia, MBChB, MMed, MPH is the Director Training, Research and Innovation & Obstetrician Gynecologist at the Kenyatta National Hospital. Honorary Lecturer, Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology & Institute of Tropical and Infectious Diseases, University of Nairobi and Affiliate Associate Professor, Department of Global Health University of Washington.


Dr. Kinuthia’s research has focused on evaluation of uptake of Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission interventions, understanding incidence and cofactors of HIV incidence during pregnancy and after delivery, partner HIV testing, and utilization of HIV prevention interventions for the adolescents and young women and during pregnancy. He has substantial experience conducting biomedical and socio-behavioral research in Kenya, providing HIV care, and mentoring and training different cadres of health care and research personnel. He is a mentor for the Global Health Equity Scholars Program and Northern Pacific Global Health Fellowship program as well as coordinating implementation science training for various programs in Kenya.
