Dr. José M. Miró is Senior Consultant of Infectious Diseases at the Hospital Clinic of Barcelona, Professor of Medicine and Director of the Master of HIV/AIDS at the University of Barcelona and IDIBAPS Investigator. He has two research lines: HIV/AIDS (including PHI, trials in advanced patients, TB and opportunistic infections, COVID-19 and solid organ transplantation) and infective endocarditis (including the experimental endocarditis model). He has published more than 850 articles in peer-review journals (h-index 81).
He was President of GESIDA (1998-99), the Catalan Society of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology (SCMIMC, 2005-07) the Spanish Society of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology (SEIMC, 2013-15) and currently is the President of the International Society of Cardiovascular Infectious Diseases (ISCVID, 2019-23) and President of the COVID-19 treatment commission of the Catalan Health-Care System (CatSalut, 2020-22). Dr. Miro is the clinical chair of the Catalonia and Balearic Island HIV cohort (PISCIS), member of the steering committees of EuroSIDA, ART-CC and RESPOND and panel member of the EACS treatment guidelines.
