Biography
Dr. Joseph Baruch Baluku was the winner of the Joep Lange award at INTEREST 2020. His research interest is in pulmonary infectious diseases where he has co-authored at least 35 peer reviewed publications on HIV, TB, aspergillosis and COVID – 19. He currently chairs the Scientific and Research Committee of Mildmay Uganda and heads the Division of Pulmonology at Kiruddu National Referral Hospital, Kampala. Formerly, as manager of the ministry of health call center in Uganda, he coordinated the call center disease surveillance for Marburg, Congo Crimean fever, rift valley fever, cholera, measles and Ebola outbreaks. He has a passion for health communication for prevention and has authored op-eds on TB, Ebola, rational use of antibiotics, Zika virus, HIV prevention and health worker occupation safety.
