Biography

Judith Kose – OTIENO is currently the Regional Program Lead at Africa CDC, Eastern Africa Regional Coordinating center. This is a pivotal leadership role in overseeing and coordinating efforts to prevent, detect, and respond to infectious disease outbreaks in the African continent. Dr Judith plays a. Her responsibilities encompass a wide array of tasks, including strategic planning, collaboration with national public health agencies and partners, technical assistance and capacity building, advocacy for public health investment, and monitoring and evaluation of programs. Dr. Judith Kose-Otieno is a highly experienced Public Health Specialist with a focus on infectious diseases. She has an extensive background in public health, spanning over two decades and a diverse range of expertise

Prior to her current role, Dr. Kose-Otieno served as the Global Director of Pediatric & Adolescent Services at EGPAF. In this capacity, she provided strategic leadership and technical assistance in improving pediatric and adolescent health services, including HIV, TB, and COVID. Her responsibilities included overseeing program implementation, introducing new products, mentoring, and capacity building, as well as representing EGPAF in global and regional meetings

Judith is a Pediatrician and an Infectious diseases expert with over 20 years’ experience extending to public health; HIV and TB treatment; COVID -19, execution of clinical programs; and implementation research. Over the years, she has supported different member states in policy, guidelines, and health systems strengthening. She also has an advisory role in several global platforms.

Overall, Dr. Judith Kose-Otieno is a dedicated and accomplished public health professional with a wealth of experience and expertise in tackling infectious diseases, especially in the context of child and adolescent health. Judith was the recipient of the 2006 International Research Health Award from The American Pediatric Association.  She is a PhD from Erasmus MC in Rotterdam in the Department of Viroscience.
