Julie B. Dumond, PharmD, MS

Biography

Julie B. Dumond, PharmD, MS is an Associate Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy, Division of Pharmacotherapy and Experimental Therapeutics (DPET). Dr. Dumond received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Michigan and a Master of Science in Pharmacometrics from the State University of New York, University at Buffalo. Dr. Dumond’s research program aims to use pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) modeling and simulation to improve clinical outcomes and limit toxicity of antiretrovirals used to prevent and treat HIV, with a focus in aging and sex differences. At the School, Julie serves as the DPET Director of Graduate Studies, teaches in the graduate-level PK/PD coursework, and provides research projects and mentorship for post-doctoral PK/PD fellows and Doctor of Pharmacy Students. Nationally she co-chairs the Pharmacology Working Group in the MACS/WIHS Clinical Cohort Study (MWCCS), an NIH-funded cohort of people living with and at risk for HIV begun in 1984. The MWCCS provides the infrastructure for most of Dr. Dumond’s current research, and she also serves on the Aging and Clinical Outcomes/Epidemiology Working Groups.
