Kirk Prutzman, PhD

Biography

Kirk Prutzman is a Team Leader and Primary Reviewer in the Office of Vaccines Research and Review (OVRR) in the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research at United States Food and Drug Administration. He has been working in OVRR since 2008.

He received his B.S. from the State University of New York – College of Environmental Science and Forestry and his Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  Dr. Prutzman has chaired and reviewed multiple Biologics Licensing Applications for new vaccines.

Recently, Dr. Prutzman has been involved in the review of COVID-19 vaccines that have been granted Emergency Use Authorization in the United States. Before the COVID-19 outbreak, he was involved in the review and regulation of Zika virus vaccines and is currently a member of a WHO working group that supports continued development of vaccines to combat a future Zika virus outbreak
