Lameck Chinula, MD

Biography

Dr. Chinula is assistant professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology’s Division of Global Women’s Health at the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill, and a Clinical Research Site Leader at UNC Project Malawi, a collaboration between the UNC and the Malawi Ministry of Health.  He is also an adjunct faculty at the Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHeS) formerly the University of Malawi, College of Medicine, a member of the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center and a Director of UNC Obstetrics and Gynecology activities in Malawi. He completed medical training at University of Malawi and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at University of Cape Town in South Africa. He is a former Fogarty International Clinical Research Fellow, and leads UNC Global HIV Clinical Trials Unit Malawi Clinical Research Site participation in HIV prevention and treatment trials, and also in US. National Cancer Institute-funded AIDS Malignancy Consortium. Dr. Chinula’s research interests are in HIV and cervical cancer prevention.
