Laura Viñuela, graduated in Pharmacy from the Alfonso X El Sabio University in Madrid (Spain), is an Associate Specialist in the Microbiology and Parasitology Unit of the San Cecilio Clinical University Hospital in Granada. She completed her residency in 2018 at the Virgen de la Victoria University Hospital in Malaga and began working in 2020 at the San Cecilio Clinical University Hospital in Granada, a reference hospital for HIV, HBV, HCV and SARS-CoV-2 sequencing in eastern Andalusia (Spain), where she is currently developing her professional career. She is involved in numerous HIV projects (CoRIS...) as well as HBV, HCV and SARS-CoV-2. Additionally, she is granteed with a fellowship at the Granada research institute in Biomedicine (FIBAO), with the Project HERA in COVID-19 as the first line of research.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Viñuela is involved in multiple studies on HIV antiretroviral therapy and in the detection of new mutations and resistance to ART treatment. More recently, she has also started working on the active search for new variants of SARS-CoV-2 in eastern Andalusia (Spain).
Since 2014, she is a member of the Spanish Society of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology (SEIMC) and of the AIDS Study Group (GeSIDA).
