Leslie A. Enane, MD, MSc, FAAP

Biography

Leslie A. Enane, MD, MSc, FAAP is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the Ryan White Center for Pediatric Infectious Disease and Global Health at Indiana University School of Medicine, and she serves as the Director of Pediatric HIV Services at Riley Hospital for Children. She is an investigator collaborating in the Academic Model Providing Access to Healthcare (AMPATH) Consortium, and in the East Africa region of the NIH-funded International Epidemiologic Database to Evaluate AIDS (IeDEA). She serves as Co-Chair of the Multiregional TB Sentinel Research Network of IeDEA.

Dr. Enane’s research centers on HIV and TB care for adolescents—investigating adolescent HIV and TB outcomes, care engagement, and interventions. She received a K23 Career Development Award from the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute for Child Health and Human Development to investigate adolescent disengagement from HIV care in western Kenya and to develop a tool to assess risks for disengagement. Her work has involved in-depth investigations of barriers to retention, including those from economic insecurity, stigma, and trauma, as well as important facilitators including peer and family supports. Her ongoing work includes developing interventions to support healthy adolescent outcomes in HIV and TB care.
