‘Lilly-Millie’* is a full-time student who was born with HIV and diagnosed with cerebral palsy. She is a wheelchair user, a woman of colour and a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community. She currently serves as a member of the Youth Committee of the Children Living with HIV (CHIVA) organization. At CHIVA, Lilly-Millie works alongside the staff team and Board of Trustees and Steering Committee to amplify the voice of children and young people living with HIV and to tackle stigma around HIV through media campaigns and direct collaboration with policy makers.
While on the Youth Committee, Lilly-Millie’s proudest achievement was being co-director and co-scriptwriter for a short film that focused on tackling the stigma and discrimination that young people living with HIV face. The film employed members of the deaf community as the lead actors, supporting their inclusion and representation and providing a much-needed resource for the community.
