Biography
In 1999, Dr. Linda Ezekiel was appointed as a Specialist Physician at Muhimbili National Hospital in Dar es salaam, Tanzania. Her qualifications include an MBBS in 1994 and an MD in Internal Medicine in 1998, both attained in India. Remarkably, she became the first Tanzanian certified Nephrologist in South Africa in 2007 and the pioneer beneficiary of Tanzania’s super-speciality capacity building program. Under her leadership, the inaugural government renal unit was established in 2009, providing comprehensive outpatient care, dialysis, Kidney transplant support and outreach services. Notably, she introduced "World Kidney Day" in 2011, an annual national advocacy event for kidney health. Recognizing her contributions, she received the Women’s Achievement Award in Health in 2013. From 2014 to 2022, her efforts led to the setup of 16 regional government renal units, a robust national renal outreach service and kidney disease awareness across Tanzania. During 2014-2018, she played a pivotal role at the President’s Delivery Bureau, overseeing national priority implementations in the Water, Health, Education and Community Safety sectors. Presently, as a consultant at the Uongozi Institute, she focuses on elevating government performance and continues to actively engage in Nephrology outreach services.
