Luis E Soto-Ramírez, is Associate Professor of Medicine, Infectious Diseases and HIV/AIDS and Head of the Molecular Virology Laboratory at the INCMNSZ, Mexico City, Mexico. He received his MD from the Universidad La Salle in Mexico in 1982 and subsequently his residency and fellowship from the INCMNSZ in 1987 and 1989 respectively. He completed a 4-year fellowship in Molecular Virology at the Harvard School of Public Health, Boston, USA, in 1995.
Dr Soto-Ramírez currently holds the positions of Coordinator National Resistance Committee (CORESAR); IAS member at the Governing Council since 2000, IAS and Regional Representative (Latin America and the Caribbean) at the Governing Council since 2012, and member of the ARV Treatment Guidelines Mexican Group since 2000.
In 2008 Dr Soto Ramírez co-chaired the XVII International AIDS Conference in Mexico City, and in 2011 was Co-Chair of the Basic Science Track of the 6th IAS Conference on HIV Pathogenesis, Treatment and Prevention in Rome. In addition, he has made many contributions to international and national meetings, with 117 scientific presentations at international meetings and 196 at national meetings, and more than 70 articles in peer-review journals.
