María Jesús Pérez Elías, MD, PhD

Biography

María Jesús Pérez Elías, MD PhD was born in Madrid, Spain. She obtained her medical degree at the Autonoma University of Madrid in 1986, and the clinical Microbiology specialty in 1990 in Ramon y Cajal Hospital.  Since then, she worked as clinician in Infectious Department, monographic unit of HIV / AIDS.   Becoming head of the unit in 2015. Doctoral thesis was presented in Alcalá de Henares University of Madrid in 1998. She has published more than 250 peer review papers and served as reviewer in more than 10 Journals.

Main researcher of more than 70 HIV related studies private and public granted. Membership of Spanish Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (SEIMC) and of AIDS Study Group (GeSIDA) 1995. Membership of EACS Society. Currently is member of The Scientific Committee  of Wave (EACS). Member and president of the Hospital Ramón y Cajal HIV/AIDS commission since 1994-2011. Main Areas of interest in HIV field were antiretroviral therapy, HIV Resistance testing, women related issues and HIV screening. Participating in national guidelines of these topics.
