Dr. Arias Loste is a liver clinician with special interest in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. In 2016, she obtained her PhD degree from the University of Cantabria where she currently holds an appointment as associate professor of the school of Medicine. As part of her scientific training, she studied the role of different immunologic, genetic and metabolic mechanisms in the development of NAFLD. As a physician, she has been working in a NAFLD monographic outpatients’ consultation since 2012. Her working team includes endocrinologists, psychiatrists and surgeons. As a researcher, she has a special interest in studying atypical forms of NAFLD/NASH including molecular approaches to unveil essential disease mechanisms, develop novel clinical biomarkers and explore non-invasive approaches for diagnosis.
