Marissa Vicari, MA

Biography

Marissa Vicari leads the Collaborative Initiative for Paediatric HIV Education and Research, the paediatric and adolescent programme of the International AIDS Society. She represents the IAS on several international committees in HIV, including Paediatric ARV Drug Optimization (PADO), the IATT Child Survival Working Group and the Adolescent HIV Treatment Coalition. She has a dual background in science and bioethics, with experience in programme development and communications in the NGO sector in public health. Prior to joining the IAS in 2012, she worked as an independent consultant and was Deputy Scientific Director and Publications Manager at the Fondation Mérieux. Before turning to public health, she also gained experience in R&D in the private sector, at DNAX Research Institute, USA. She graduated from University of California at Santa Cruz in biology and bioethics, and holds an MS in Biotechnological Law and Ethics.
