Matsepo Dee Mphafi Tanka is a Senior Youth Ambassador at the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation in Lesotho. In this role, she focuses on empowering adolescents and youth to access HIV services and develop positive life skills. Matsepo has extensive experience connecting with young people and sharing her personal story and technical expertise on a global stage. She has spoken at conferences and various venues and platforms, including IAS and recently a global webinar on innovations and supporting treatment journeys for young individuals living with HIV.
Aside from her role as a Senior Youth Ambassador, Matsepo is also an EGPAF Foundation Ambassador and serves as the Focal Point for youth members in Lesotho for the EGPAF internal youth mechanism known as the Committee of African Youth Advisers. Within this capacity, she supports young people and contributes to technical documents and tools that target adolescents and youth living with HIV in EGPAF programs.
Her contributions extend to global resources focusing on disclosure of HIV status and cartoons designed for use in psychosocial support groups, facilitating discussions on stigma, acceptance of status, and other challenges in a unique and engaging manner.
Throughout her journey, Matsepo has engaged with a diverse range of stakeholders, including young people, international organizations, and donors. She actively participates in various technical discussions and initiatives centered around HIV, demonstrating her passion for supporting and empowering young individuals in their treatment and prevention journeys.
