Michael Plankey, PhD

Biography
Michael Plankey, PhD is a clinical infectious disease epidemiologist and Professor in the Department of Medicine at Georgetown University. He is a senior Co-Investigator for MACS WIHS Combined Cohort Study (MWCCS) at the Baltimore-Washington, DC sites.  He has evaluated methodological approaches to analyze complex longitudinal data related to the syndemic production of social, psychological and behavioral factors and health outcomes among sexual minority and race/ethnicity minority men and women living with or without HIV.  His longstanding aging-focused research among MWCCS participants investigated the behavioral, immunological and virological factors associated with hearing and balance loss; and the measurement of psychosocial and behavioral vulnerabilities and resiliencies associated with health outcomes related to HIV disease and non-communicable comorbidities.
