Michael Yin , MD

Biography

Dr. Yin is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases at Columbia University Medical Center. His research focuses on the optimization of HIV treatment and care, especially through prevention of non-AIDS complications of HIV infection and antiretroviral therapy. He has examined the epidemiology and pathogenic mechanisms of HIV associated bone loss in perinatally-infected children, adolescents, and postmenopausal women utilizing novel imaging techniques and translational bone cell assays. Currently, he is investigating the impact of oral immune activation on periodontal health and alveolar bone loss in HIV-infected women. Dr. Yin is an investigator in the AIDS Clinical Trials Group (ACTG), Women’s Interagency HIV Study (WIHS), and Co-Directs the Bio-behavioral Core for the HIV Center for Clinical and Behavioral Studies, at the New York State Psychiatric Institute and Columbia University.
