Mike Emerson, PhD is a Reader in Cardiovascular Pharmacology at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London and is Head of the Platelet Biology Group. Dr Emerson received his MSc and PhD in Pharmacology from King’s College London after graduating from the University of Leeds. He underwent post-doctoral training at the Universities of Sydney, Edinburgh and Manchester. Dr Emerson’s research focusses on exploring interactions of nanomaterials with the cardiovascular system and in characterising mechanisms of cardiovascular risk in people living with HIV. His laboratory uses state-of-the art approaches to define platelet and endothelial cell function in detail. Current projects focus on understanding interactions of antiretrovirals with the cardiovascular system and on characterising cardiovascular pathophysiology in people living with HIV.
