Natalie Jacobs, and I have been working for Sanpud, the South African Network of People Who Use Drugs, for the past 2 years as a Community Linkage Officer.
My job entails advocating for the rights of people who use drugs, documenting human rights violations, and, if need be, linking them to the appropriate legal service.
I do outreach and provide the community with the necessary information or harm reduction services, namely the Needle and Syringe Program (NSP), Opioid Substitution Therapy (OST), as well as education on safe injecting and overdose awareness.
