Patrick Oomen is a physician-researcher and PhD candidate at the University Medical Center Utrecht in the Netherlands. He received his M.D. from Utrecht University and also obtained a Postgraduate Master in Epidemiology from Utrecht University. He has published on appropriate antibiotic prescribing and prognostic markers in the emergency department. More recently, he has devoted his research entirely to HIV, with the near completion of his dissertation ("HIV: optimizing treatment and monitoring beyond virologic suppression"). In his dissertation, Patrick focused on studying (adverse) effects of antiretroviral therapy and HIV-associated co-morbidities.
