Pere Ginès is a clinical hepatologist who has been Chair of the Liver Unit of Hospital Clinic of Barcelona for 15 years and is currently Senior Consultant of the Liver Unit in the Hospital Clínic and Full Professor of Medicine in University of Barcelona. His main areas of clinical and research interest are cirrhosis and its complications, mechanisms of liver fibrogenesis, biomarkers of liver diseases, and early diagnosis of liver fibrosis. He was Deputy Editor of Journal of Hepatology from 2001 to 2005. He has more than 400 publications in PubMed and an H-index of 106. He is recipient of the European Association of the Study of the Liver (EASL) International Award in 2022.
