Biography

Dr Peter Elyanu is a pediatrician and epidemiologist and serves as the Director of research at Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation Uganda. He also oversees HIV care and treatment program for children and adolescents at the Baylor-Uganda clinical center of excellence in Kampala. He also heads the global health security program at Baylor-Uganda which supports the COVID-19 response in Uganda including developing and implementing strategies to promote continuity of care for children and adolescent living with HIV during the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr Elyanu previously led the Pediatric HIV care and treatment program at the Uganda Ministry of Health where he spearheaded national roll out of test and start guidelines for children. He is a member of the pediatric ART technical working group at the Uganda Ministry of Health, and contributes to policies and guidelines for pediatric and adolescent HIV in Uganda. His research focuses on Pediatric HIV treatment outcomes and HIV exposed infants.
