Pilar Vizcarra, MD, is a physician and researcher of the HIV/AIDS Unit and Infectious Disease Department at the Ramón y Cajal University Hospital in Madrid, where she runs several research projects and clinical trials for the Spanish Network for Research in Infectious Diseases. She trained in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases in Argentina and has collaborated with the British Columbia Center for Excellence in HIV /AIDS in Vancouver, Canada. Pilar has a special interest in the clinical care of people living with HIV. Her research focuses on the impact of HIV infection and antiretroviral therapy on HIV-related comorbidities, particularly bone metabolism and kidney dysfunction. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, she has been engaged in COVID-19 research, including projects involving people living with HIV.
