Ploenchan Chetchotisakd is a Professor of Medicine at the Khon Kaen University, Thailand. She graduated from Khon Kaen University and got Internal Medicine training in Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, Bangkok and Fellowship Training in Infectious Disease from Indiana University Medical Center in Indiana, USA. In 1988, she joined the Division of Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine, Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University as an instructor. She became a Professor of Medicine in 2004. Since then she has been working in the Northeast of Thailand. Her research interests focused on HIV infection and opportunistic infection especially on fungal infection. She has carried out several original investigations in the field of HIV infection, melioidosis, and nontuberculous mycobacteria. She was the Chair of Opportunistic Infections panel for the Thailand National Guidelines on HIV/AIDS Treatment and Prevention 2014, 2017 and 2021/2022.
