Polly Clayden has been an HIV treatment activist for over 20 years. She co-founded HIV i-Base, a community organisation based in London: http://i-base.info.
The main focus of her work is ART optimisation for low- and middle-income countries. This includes populations, often called “special”, but that make up a vast proportion of people living with HIV globally, ie women.
She tracks, reviews, writes about and serves on many trial steering committees for adult and paediatric ART optimisation research.
Much of her two decades plus as an HIV activist have been spent complaining about the lack of adequate representation of women in clinical trials and the paucity of data on antiretrovirals in pregnancy.
