Priti Patel, MD, MPH

Biography

Priti Patel, MD, MPH is Senior Advisor for Long COVID at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Priti provides strategic and scientific leadership for Long COVID activities and works closely with the HHS Office of Long COVID Research and Practice to coordinate CDC’s involvement in the government-wide response to Long COVID. Priti co-leads the federal Long COVID Coverage, Access, and Payment workgroup, which aims to identify and overcome barriers to care for Long COVID and related conditions.

Priti is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Family and Preventive Medicine in the Emory University School of Medicine. She is an editorial board member of AJPM Focus, and serves on the Healthcare Justice Committee of the American Society of Nephrology. Priti is a member of the Society of General Internal Medicine Long COVID Interest Group. Priti received her undergraduate degree from the University of Chicago; she attended Columbia University School of Public Health, and Howard University College of Medicine. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at the University of Pennsylvania and was assigned to the Maryland Department of Health in the Center for Maternal and Child Health for her Preventive Medicine residency. Priti also completed CDC’s Epidemic Intelligence Service program.
