Dr. Rebeccah Wangusi is a Medical Officer with a Degree in Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the University of Nairobi and has a Master’s in Business Administration from Strathmore university. Dr. Wangusi is currently pursuing a MSC Global Health in the University of Maryland Baltimore. She has over 10 years’ experience in management of complex HIV programs for local and international organizations. Dr. Wangusi has been a member of several county and national HIV and TB related technical working groups and contributed to the development of multiple HIV and TB guidelines.
As the Program Director of CONNECT, Dr. Wangusi collaborates with Nairobi Metropolitan Services to design and implement HIV and TB prevention and treatment services in the county for key, general and populations towards epidemic control. Nairobi City County has a diverse highly mobile population and the health infrastructures services clients from neighboring county. Working with the county health management team and other partners in the county, Dr. Wangusi has been able to design robust HIV and Tb programs, that are responsive to the needs of this population resulting in increased access to these services, high linkage rates to HIV and TB treatment, 97% viral suppression among those on antiretroviral system and commendable continuity in treatment rates despite the mobility of this population.
