Biography

Rhoda Igweta, serving as the Regional Director of Public Policy and Advocacy at the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF), plays a pivotal role in advancing EGPAF's priorities within African regional policy-making bodies. Her primary objective is to foster an environment conducive to the eradication of AIDS as a public health threat. With an impressive tenure of nearly 15 years in the public health sector, Rhoda has dedicated her career to maternal, adolescent, and child health, while also contributing significantly to initiatives addressing malaria and tuberculosis.

As a passionate advocate, Rhoda actively cultivates and sustains meaningful relationships with strategic partners and networks, amplifying EGPAF's impact in the pursuit of public health goals. A Kenyan lawyer, she holds a Master's degree in Human Rights and Democratization in Africa from the University of Pretoria, underscoring her commitment to social justice advocacy. Her steadfast belief in justice and equality for all is coupled with a deep passion for children and youth issues.

Rhoda's professional journey includes a notable stint in the campaigns and advocacy team at the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights, where she focused on criminal justice reforms and national integration. Early in her career, she worked closely with rural communities, providing essential legal education. Her instrumental role in establishing the Prisons Paralegal Program in Kenyan prisons exemplifies her commitment to ensuring legal aid access for remand prisoners.
