Biography

Consultant Interventional Cardiologist Royal Free Hospital and Professor of Cardiology, Institute of Cardiovascular Science, UCL.

Qualified from Charing Cross & Westminster Medical School (Imperial College, London) with general cardiology and interventional training in London and Switzerland. Academic training has included a Wellcome Clinical Research Fellowship at the Rayne Institute, St.Thomas` Hospital, Kings College London (MD) and British Heart Foundation International Fellowship at the Swiss Cardiovascular Centre, Bern. He combines a busy clinical job with an active teaching and translational research programme at UCL having supervised several PhD fellows. He is theme lead for the UCL Cardiovascular Biomedical Research Centre and lead for coronary research at the Royal Free hospital with interests in acute coronary syndrome, microparticles, intra- coronary imaging, coronary physiology, risk assessment and prevention in high-risk coronary artery disease cohorts (diabetes, familial hyperlipidaemia and HIV). He is former Cardiovascular Speciality lead for the North Thames NIHR Clinical Research Network, London and elected member of council, Royal College of Physicians, London, UK.
