Rumbidzai is a young lady aged 25 who is currently working with Africaid, Zvandiri a mentor under the Technical Support Unit. She started her work with Zvandiri in 2016 when she became a Community Adolescent Treatment Supporter (CATS) in a rural district in Zimbabwe. Rumbi was soon covering the care and support of her peers in two districts and in a short time was promoted to a Zvandiri Intern in the same rural district. Growth and maturity led Rumbi into facilitation, training, and speaking opportunities and she then became an intern within the Technical Support Team.
As clearly shown through her work and promotions in the organization, Rumbidzai is a committed, hard-working, mature young lady who is passionate about supporting other young people to access HIV prevention, treatment, care, and support services. She provides counselling services and has played a leading role in developing and implementing new, community based innovations to support young people living with HIV. Particularly, she has been leading the scale up of the CATS model within the region through a south to south learning approach.
She is currently studying her Honours’ Degree in Psychology at Zimbabwe Open University. Rumbidzai is an exceptional young lady and has a wealth of academic, development and communications experience well beyond her years. She is a wonderful, mature, articulate young person with tremendous insight and experience in to the needs of young people with HIV.
