Shan Chan, RN, MSN, FHKAN (Infectious Disease-Medicine)

Biography

Ms. Chan is a HIV specialty nurse in Hong Kong. She completed her bachelor’s degree in 2005 and obtained Master of Science (Nursing Studies) in 2010. She has been awarded Fellow in the Specialty of Medicine (Infectious Disease), Hong Kong Academy of Nursing since 2017. Currently, she is the chairman of Nurse and Allied Health Professional Sub-committee, Hong Kong Society for HIV Medicine. She was also appointed to be the member of the Hong Kong Advisory Council on AIDS in 2022. In addition, Ms. Chan is a mentor for junior nurses and lecturer for the School of General Nursing and Midwifery. She also actively participates in community education.

Ms. Chan is the Nurse in-charge in HIV Clinical Service, Queen Elizabeth Hospital where is a tertiary referral center in Hong Kong. The center provides both in-patient and ambulatory care to HIV-infected adults and children. Her nursing team takes important roles in the holistic and multidisciplinary care model including case management and drug adherence program. Besides, her team is strengthening the sexual health service including STI screening and management, harm reduction counselling, collection of cervical and anal pap smear, establishing the high resolution anoscopy service for detection of anal cancer.
